Last night I was delighted to attend a showing of one of my favorite musicals. Although in retrospect, most are my favorite. If you aren’t familiar with the story, Wicked is a prequel to the Wizard of OZ. The musical has won a bunch of awards and cemented a few of the performers who originated the roles into the broadway hall of fame in many a girls hearts.
Here is a trailer for the tour and gives a little more info about the show.
I went one my own to the show and LOVED it. I was able to park for free in state parking and it was nice to look around Legislative Plaza. I’m always reminded how much I adore Nashville especially when I’m downtown wandering around and people watching. I ran into a friend I grew up with and we chatted for a while. It was nice to touch base. Then I found my seat next to a great couple who had no idea about what the show was about or the story or anything. They kept asking me questions as they looked over their programs. Super sweet and they seemed to really enjoy it.
I had fantastic seats, the music started and the lights dimmed and the hairs on my arms stood on end. It was incredible. I love the story of the awkward girl and how misunderstanding can happen. How truth sometimes is chaged by perception and how falling in love can happen in the most odd of circumstances. But the pivitol relationship in this show is the one developed between school enemies who become best friends. I won’t give too much away, but it’s life at it’s best and worst.
This is the clip from the Tony’s a few years ago and it’s a turning part in the whole show and the act one finale song.
